Dave Warner Talks Coventry City and Previews Away Fixture at Telford

 @Grifftersworld

Coach Dave Warner Speaks about Shifnal Ladies performance away against Coventry City Women and our next away fixture against AFC Telford United Ladies.

On how the ladies performed against Coventry City Women.

"We scored an early goal which settled us down and we kept possession well and used the ball effectively, dominating both possession and territory.

The Coventry defence we struggling with the movement of the Shifnal front two and with some clever passing from midfield they were carved open several times in the first half.

Shifnal always looked in control all of the first half and went in at the break 0-4 up and it could have been 6 or 7.

Defensively we looked strong and broke down Coventry's attacks with ease.

At half time we made some changes and again the ladies created many chances but the Coventry keeper was very brave and made a number of great saves.

Coventry managed to pull one back with 10 mins to go with a well-struck shot.

Virtually from the restart the Shifnal Ladies went down the other end and wrapped things up with a 1-5 win

(A comfortable win for our ladies)"

On who was your player of the match and why.

"My player of the match was Megan Hazlehurst! Especially after the incident against Telford the week before.

To be fair there were a number of very good performances today!"

On what you think the outcome will be o the away fixture against Telford next week.

"Next weeks game is a vital game for Shifnal ladies, can we go again against an improving AFC Telford team.

We are finding a pattern of play that suits the squad and a formation, we must start strong! from the whistle with a purpose and press from the front, we can’t allow Telford time on the ball we must dominate in all areas and when in possession we keep it and use the ball wisely, we were a bit guilty early season of giving the ball away (too many transitions).

AFC Telford likes to take quick throw-ins and free-kicks so concentration levels must be 100% for the 90 mins.

I am sure our ladies can deliver another victory over our local rivals next Sunday!

All the ladies are working hard at training on certain key areas which will pay long term dividends for them as individuals and as a team and they are starting to show on the pitch."

"I would like to thank the parents & supporters who were there cheering on the ladies in the Coventry rain! ( there were no sky blues today)"
